TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT

Sphinx Advisory provides pro bono consulting support through volunteer professionals who generously contribute their expertise alongside their regular employment and personal commitments. All engagements are offered on a goodwill basis and do not create any employee‑like obligations, expectations of set hours, fixed availability, or ongoing operational support. To ensure respectful, effective collaboration, partner organisations must maintain timely communication, responsiveness, and professional conduct throughout the engagement.

Sphinx Advisory reserves the right to discontinue support at any time where communication lapses, expectations become unreasonable, or behaviour towards consultants is disrespectful.

Direct engagement of consultants as employees, contractors, casuals, volunteers

Sphinx Advisory does not charge a fee for direct engagement of our consultants. There are certain restrictions on our senior consultants being engaged directly. Please contact us to discuss your options.

Communication & Responsiveness

Successful engagements rely on:

  • Timely responses
  • Clear decision‑making
  • Respectful communication
  • Providing requested information promptly

A lack of communication or responsiveness significantly delays or prevents progress.

Respect for Volunteer Consultants

Our consultants volunteer their time. We ask partner organisations to:

  • Respect volunteer capacity
  • Avoid demanding deadlines
  • Avoid expectations of set hours or availability
  • Maintain professional courtesy at all times

Behaviour & Conduct

Sphinx Advisory maintains a zero‑tolerance approach to:

  • Discrimination and racism
  • Disrespect
  • Hostility
  • Dismissive or inappropriate behaviour
  • Repeated failure to communicate

If these occur, the engagement will cease immediately.

Cessation of Engagement

Sphinx Advisory may discontinue an engagement if:

  • Communication becomes inconsistent or stops
  • Required information is not provided
  • There is ongoing unresponsiveness
  • Behaviour towards consultants becomes disrespectful
  • Expectations shift towards employee‑like demands
  • The organisation is unable or unwilling to implement agreed recommendations

This ensures our volunteer consultants are protected and that their time is used effectively.

Eligibility for Pro Bono Support

Pro bono support is available to:

  • Registered not‑for‑profit organisations
  • Community groups
  • Volunteer‑run organisations
  • Social enterprises with limited resources

Eligibility is assessed during the initial consultation.*

*We do not tolerate abusive or coercive behaviour - if you are not eligible for our services or we do not have the resources to accommodate your request, we ask that you respect our position.
